NYSE Partners with BlackRock-Backed Securitize for Blockchain Trading Platform
The New York Stock Exchange is making its boldest move yet into digital asset infrastructure by selecting Securitize as transfer agent for its blockchain-based trading platform. This partnership pits the 232-year-old institution against crypto-native venues by offering 24/7 equity trading with instant settlement—a direct challenge to traditional market hours.
Securitize, which counts BlackRock and Ark Invest as backers, brings dual SEC registrations as transfer agent and broker-dealer. The firm will architect the backbone for tracking ownership and corporate actions on-chain—critical infrastructure for NYSE's planned Digital Trading Platform targeting launch later this year.
The platform promises to solve persistent pain points: fractional share purchases denominated in dollars, stablecoin funding rails, and seamless ETF trading. By leveraging existing Pillar matching engines with private blockchain networks, NYSE aims to merge legacy efficiency with crypto's always-on markets.
